The view

Straight away you get the idea of what the view will be like, from the dining room / kitchen and from our juliette balcony (!!!!!! SO exciting!)

This is a snapshot of the view from the kitchen/diner. Try to imagine a patio instead of the pile of bricks! I think it is great! Really debating about how to make the most of it... something to do with choosing the right patio doors....

This shot (a bit higher) represents the view from our bedroom balcony - gorgeous. Really need to do something about all those wires!!

Day two: August 30th 2011

So down it comes!

It feels great. I've been a bit hyper today but so excited! Already I can't remember what the old kitchen looks like and the new one is already there in my mind!!!

Its been a bit of a halting start for various reasons but we are slowly picking up pace. We were hoping to get rid of a lot of rubbish via John the farmer but that hasn't worked out it quite the way we expected. James tried to get a skip here today but it's coming tomorrow. So it really is looking like a building site already- rubble everywhere! Although they have managed to save a good number of bricks which will be great for making the extension look sympathetic. I was supposed to get an electrician on site but I was still trying (and failing) to hammer down the price - he is coming tomorrow first thing. Hopefully no one will get electricuted in the mean time. James turned plumber for today and tied off the pipes in the kitchen.

Noise levels 1/5

Stress levels 2/5

All good so far!

Day one: August 26th 2011

Finally after two years of planning nightmare some builders are on site!
James, James and Micky turn up to barricade us in.... so now we are safe from all that infamous brick dust...? (she says naively!)

The New Temporary Kitchen

Wow! Amazing! We have created a fully functioning kitchen in our front room!

Thank you mum and dad!

Ripping out the old kitchen

With a little help from my dad, we saved over a grand by opting to rip out the old kitchen ourselves and take it to the tip in our van.

Emptying the Conservatory

The conservatory in it's death throws... good riddens, although the light was always a bonus. To be promptly listed on ebay... ;o)
